Mechdal

   A Hebrew word meaning "omission"; a term widely used in Israel in the aftermath of the Yom Kippur War (1973) to refer to the failures of the government and military to be fully prepared for the outbreak of the war and to respond to the initial attacks by Egypt and Syria.
